HAMLIN TOWNSHIP Recycling Facility (with paid sticker)

• By paying a $15 yearly fee, Hamlin Township will issue residents and non-residents a car sticker so that you may use their Recycling Drop Off Facility on Dewey Road! Contact the Hamlin Township Hall 845-7801.
  • Newspaper - including color comics and glossy inserts, put in paper bags .
  • Magazines and Catalogs
  • Corrugated Cardboard - flatten boxes and cut into 2' squares.
  • Boxboard - lightweight cardboard used in cereal, cracker and cookie boxes. Please flatten. Cut into 2' squares.
  • Brown Grocery Paper Bags
  • Telephone Books
  • Office and Computer Paper
  • #1 and #2 Plastic Bottles and Jugs - milk and water jugs, laundry and hair care product bottles, etc. with the #1 or #2 recycle symbols on the bottom. Clear and all colors. Rinse, labels OK, discard caps. NO motor oil or chemical containers.
  • Clear Glass Bottles and Jars - rinse out; remove lids, labels OK. NO pyrex, window glass, ceramics, light bulbs, mirrors, beverage glasses or broken window glass.
  • Metal Food and Beverage Cans, Aluminum Baking Tins and Foil - tin, steel and aluminum cans that held food or beverages and aluminum baking tins and aluminum foil. Rinsed clean. Labels OK.

Shoreline Waste Services

• If you are a Shoreline Waste Services Customer: Buy trash bags for non-recyclables
• They accept the following recyclables from anyone at their site:
• #2 plastic - no oil or antifreeze containers
• office paper- remove paper clips, colored and white ok
• newspaper and magazines- do not bind with string- use paper bags
• clear glass- no window glass, pyrex or ceramics
• aluminum foil- no food waste, no coffee brick wrappers or laminates
• tin cans- remove labels, no food waste, no paint or aerosol cans, no scrap metal
• corrugated cardboard and brown paper bags- flatten, no food waste, no wax-coated boxes
• boxboard (cereal boxes)- flatten, no food waste, no wax-coated boxes

I currently know of no where to locally recycle household batteries.

Meijer (845--3706) Used core worth $5.00 towards new battery

NAPA ( 845-1221) Used core worth $5.00 towards new battery or (will pay $1.00 for used car batteries)
Parts Plus ( 757-4733) Used core worth $4.00-$6.00 towards new battery

Lead Gel Batteries
Radio Shack (845-7504) sends them to Elwood, PA for recycling - Will not take lead acid rechargable batteries or household batteries

Rechargeable Batteries
January 8, 2001- Rechargeable batteries will be easier to recycle thanks to the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation. Visit their site to find locations which accept Ni-Cad batteries. RBRC There are many local drop-off sites.

Urka Auto Center (845-6282) bring in 1 gallon containers (charge of $1.00 per gallon)
Advance Auto Parts (843-6699)will take up to 5 gallons

Antifreeze
Urka Auto Center (845-6282) bring in 1 gallon containers - charge of $1.00 per gallon

Tires
Wal-Mart (845-5787) charge of $ .75 per tire and need to buy new
James Tire (843-3100) charge of $2.00 per tire (limit 5)

Inkjet Print Cartridges
Get pre-paid envelopes to recycle inkjet print cartridges at Scottville Post Office

Plastic Grocery Bags
Ludington High School. Drop off between 6 am and 8:30 pm. No food bags- such as bread bags. (The Knowlege Seekers Class is sorting them, Meijer Corporation will buy them and they will be used to produce new Enviro-bags sold by Meijer.)
Wal-Mart lobby. Shopping bags only.
