Ok, so this isn't taken right from the trail, but it's in the Manistee National Forest. Autumn in Michigan is hard to beat for beauty.

The Baw Beese Trail near Hillsdale invites even winter hikers. Winter has many charms, including no bugs or poison ivy. Like to snowshoe? Check out The Snowshoe Pages for kits to make your own. Other neat stuff there too! You could also buy traditional wood snowshoes (bear paw design) made by Tubbs . Also, snow caves are fun but they must be built safely. For National Trails Day 1997 Roxanne, Kelly and Katy took their first steps as backpackers. All successfully completed a 10-mile overnight hike near White Cloud in the Manistee National Forest, punctuated by campfire-cooked meals. Way to go, gals!
