Play Title

In keeping with the tradition at Mason County Eastern, the Senior Class towards the end of the school year put on a play. Breaking away from the tradition however, the play was NOT about Hillbillies, life in the Ozark Mountains, the feud between the Hatfield & McCoys, etc. It was about Hippies (I mean what else in 1968 right?).

The setting is in the Hiaght Ashbury "hippie" district where Suzy Stevenson opens a free restaurant that she hopes will help find her brother who has disappeared. In doing so, she is thrust into humorous adventures with both hippies, and squares. Towards the end, she finds herself forced to judge the merits of both civilizations, and she does so in an exciting debate with her found brother.

The play was funny, probing, and not at all self-righteous.

For those of us who participated, it was a riot, and a time we will never forget.
