General & Domain Information

Login Name * username
Domain Name t-one.net
Primary Domain Name Server
(Primary DNS)
65.183.168.4
Secondary (Alternate) Domain Name Server
(Alternate DNS)
65.183.168.210
I.P. Address Server Assigned
(Your ISP assigns it upon dialup)
Web Address ** http://www.t-one.net
http://www.betsievalley.net
FTP Address ftp.t-one.net

* Note 1: Your username is the name you gave us when we set up your account. Anytime you are asked for "User name", "Account name", "Email name", or "Login name", this is the name you MUST use! DO NOT use your full email address (ie: username@t-one.net) when asked for this parameter unless instructed to do so on the Call Finder page or by T-One personell! Also keep in mind that both your username and password are case sensitive. uPpEr CAse lETTerS mean sOmethInG DIFFERENT than LoweR CAse letters. If the system asks you over and over for your password, chances are, one of the two of these are entered wrong. Your "CAPS LOCK" being on is the first thing to look for if this happens (this will save a lot of calls to tech support if you check this first).

** Note 2: We highly recommend setting your startup home page to the T-One or BetsieValley Address.
We have provided many links on this page to help you get started on the net, and change content periodically for the benefit of our members.

Email & News Information

Email account Name username
Incoming Mail (POP3) Server * mail.t-one.net
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server mail.t-one.net
News (NNTP) Server news.t-one.net
Your email address
(Also your "reply to:" address)
username@t-one.net

For our northern area Benzie County Customers, please feel free to substitute "betsievalley.net" for "t-one.net" anywhere desired.

* Note: T-One.Net uses a POP3 server for email, NOT an IMAP server. If your email software asks you to choose one or the other, be sure to pick POP3

Special Email Note: There are some email clients such as Eudora that handle your POP account differently. Rather than asking for "POP Account Name (your username), they ask for "POP Account". If you are setting up Eudora Light, or Eudora Pro which asks for "POP Account", the correct entry would be "username@mail.t-one.net" (without the quotes of course). Again, when ever "username" is referred to, this is the name you supplied to us when your account was set up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Every time I try to dial up T-one, I get a busy signal.

A. T-One has plenty of modems and lines to service its customer base, and while we can not promise that you will NEVER get a busy signal, at the present time you should not get a busy signal of any kind.

The first thing to check if you are receiving busy signals each time you dial would be the number you are dialing. While it may sound strange, many times a person during setup will insert their own phone number for the number they are dialing to connect to us. If you have your own phone number inserted for the dialup number, it will of course be busy.

After verifying the phone number, also be sure you are dialing the number you intended. If you have extra boxes checked in your modem dialing properties (like call waiting when you actually do not have call waiting), or an incorrect area code, your computer will not dial the correct number, causing you either a busy signal, or just never reaching our system.

Q. When I try to dial T-One, I get an error message that says my computer cannot communicate with my modem, does this mean that T-One is down?

A. NO! If your computer and your modem are not communicating with each other, or if for any reason you have not actually dialed out, you have not at that point even reached the T-One system. Assuming that the T-One system is down because you cannot dial out is something like thinking that your neighbor's phone is out of service when the handset on your own telephone is broken (a little tongue in cheek humor there). The thing to keep in mind in a situation such as this, is that you MUST dial out, and dial the correct number before the T-One system even comes into the picture.

Q. When I try to connect to T-One, it keeps asking me over and over again for my password.

A. Although it is many times hard to accept, a box that keeps coming back over and over again asking for the password means that either your username, or your password is entered incorrectly. The CAPS LOCK being on reversing the case of the letters is probably the biggest cause of this sort of problem, but other things happen also that will change your stored username or password. Keep in mind that both username AND password are case sensitive, and UpPEr cAsE LeTtErs mean something different than LoWeR CaSe LeTtErS. Both your user name and password MUST BE EXACTLY the way you gave them to us when your account was set up, case of letters and all.

Another common mistake made when first setting up a connection (especially when coming from a different type of system), is your Login Name is just your username, NOT username@host. If you enter your complete email address (ie: username@t-one.net), it will keep coming back asking for a valid password. Again, your username is JUST your username with nothing else added.

If all of the above are correct (and your account is current of course), you should have no problem with this little box asking you for your password appearing over and over again.

Q. I am running Windows 95/98 and it seems to take a very long time to verify username and password when I log into the T-One system.

A. This is normally caused by the "LOG ON TO NETWORK" box being checked in your "Server Types" settings. On the "Server Types Settings" screen, the only boxes that should be checked are "Enable Software Compression" and "TCP/IP". The average time to connect to T-One should be no more than 30-35 seconds, start to finish.

Q. I am using Netscape email and although my computer says I have new mail, I can't see it.

A. This is most generally caused by your Netscape email not being set to full screen for viewing. Any incoming mail will go to your "INBOX", with the header of the email showing on the left. Depending on which email header is highlighted, the contents of that email will be shown in the lower 1/2 of your screen, below a horizontal bar. If you do not have your email program set to full screen you will not be able to see the body of the letter.

Q. Which browser should I be using on the T-One system, Netscape, or Microsoft Internet Explorer?

A. You can use any browser you like on the T-One system with equal success. As far as asking which browser is better, this is akin to asking someone if a Ford is better than a Chevy, everyone will have their own opinion with no right or wrong answer. As long as you are using a current enough version of the browser, you should have no trouble.

Q. How do I add a counter to my web page on T-One?

A. To use the counter, place the following line in your page at an appropriate location;

<IMG SRC="/cgi-bin/nph-count?width=5&link=/pagelocation/pagename">

By example, here is the line from my homepage for my counter.

<IMG SRC="/cgi-bin/nph-count?width=5&link=/~lyle/index.html">

The following are arguments that are recognized by the counter.

width=number
Specifies the number of digits in the resulting image

link=URL
This link-argument is used to keep track of a certain counter. It should be unique for each counter. This should be the url address of the page on which the counter image is located.

increase=number
Default=1 This specifies the number by which the counter should be increased. This can be used to check how many times a certain page was visited without increasing the counter. In that case specify increase=0

show=NO
In case you would like to keep track of the number of accesses to a certain page without showing the counter image, specify the above argument.

Note: More FAQ's will be added to this list as time goes along. These are just some of the questions that seem to be at the top of the list for tech support calls here at T-One.
