Configure Outlook Express E-mail

Instructions: The following screens are duplicates of the ones that should
appear in your system. Verify that your screen selections match these.

  1. Open Outlook Express. The screen to the left should appear.

  2. Click on TOOLS and then Accounts

  3. Click here to continue.

You should now see a screen similar to the one on the left.

  1. Click the Mail tab

  2. Highlight your account as it is listed.

  3. Select Properties.

You should now see a screen similar to the one on the left.

  1. Click the General tab.

  2. Under Mail account, enter T-One or your e-mail address.
    Note: Outlook Express allows you to have multiple account settings, so this is a reference title.

  3. Under User Information, enter your name is the Name field.

  4. You can leave Organization blank. It is an optional field.

  5. Your E-mail address at T-One should be in the form of username@t-one.net

  6. You can leave Reply address blank or enter an alternate e-mail address.

  7. Make sure to check the box next to: Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing.

  8. To continue to reveiw and/or configure your settings, click the Servers tab.

You should now see a screen similar to the one on the left.

  1. Outgoing mail (SMTP) should read mail.t-one.net

  2. Incoming mail (POP3) should read mail.t-one.net.

  3. Verify that My incoming mail server is POP3 server.

  4. Verify that you have selected the Log on using box.

  5. The Account name should display the portion of your e-mail address before the @t-one.net (in lower case letters).

  6. Re-enter your Password (this is case sensitive and MUST be entered as it was originally given to T-One).

  7. Verify that you have NOT selected the My server requires authentication check box.

  8. Click onAdvanced

You should now see a screen similar to the one on the left.

  1. Uncheck the box Always connect to this account using

  2. Click on Advanced

You should now see a screen similar to the one on the left.

  1. Verify that your settings match these with the following exception: If you are having a problem with e-mail timing out or hanging while receiving e-mail, drag the Server timeouts slider from Short towards Long, until it reads 5 min.

  2. Click Apply.

  3. Click OK.

    You may now close any other windows that are still open.

    That's it!! Your e-mail should be configured correctly. Now, try to send and receive email.

    If ever you are not sure you are sending or receiving your e-mail properly try sending one to yourself. Just address an e-mail to yourself, send it, and check for new mail a few moments later. If everything is configured properly you will receive the mail in your inbox.
