Configuring Version 4.x Netscape Mail & News

Instructions: The following screens are duplicates of the ones that should
appear in your system (yours may vary slightly. Verify that your screen selections match these.

You should now see a screen similar to the one on the left.

  1. This will show how to configure Netscape Communicator's Email. With Netscape comunicator open, select Edit, then Preferences as shown here.

You should now see a screen similar to the one on the left.

  1. Open Mail & Groups by clicking the little plus sign to the left of it. It will then change to a minus sign. Click Identity and your screen will look as it does in the screenshot. Fill in the the fields as illustrated here using your own T-One Internet information. This is the information you supplied T-One Internet when you opened your account.

You should now see a screen similar to the one on the left.

  • If your screen is different than the one on the left CLICK HERE for earlier revisions of Netscape Version 4.x.
  1. If the text box under Incoming Mail Servers is blank Click on ADD. If you already have an entry in the Incoming Mail Servers text box Click on EDIT.

You should now see a screen similar to the one on the left.

  1. Fill in the information on your screen using the graphic on the left as a guide. Again being sure to replace the word username with your username with T-one.net. If you wish for Netscape to remember your password check the Remember Password box. A good number for checking mail is every 20 minutes.

  2. Click OK

You should now see a screen similar to the one on the left.
  1. Enter the information into the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server as shown. Do not enter anything for the outgoing mail server username.

  2. Be sure you have a dot in the circle for NEVER Under the wording Use Secure Socet Layer (SSL) or TLS for outgoing messages.

  3. Click OK

  4. Click OK on the Preferences window.

    That's it!! You e-mail should be configured correctly. Now, try to send and receive email.

    If ever you are not sure you are sending or receiving your e-mail properly try sending one to yourself. Just address an e-mail to yourself, send it, and check for new mail a few moments later. If everything is configured properly you will receive the mail in your inbox.
