Adding a dialing prefix in Windows '95 or '98

Instructions: The following screens are duplicates of the ones that should
appear in your system. Verify that your screen selections match these.

  1. Open My Computer on your desktop by DOUBLE CLICKING it.

  2. Open Dial-Up Networking by DOUBLE CLICKING it. You may need to scroll down to find the Dial Up Networking screen.

You should now see a screen similar to the one on the left.

  1. Open (double-click) your T-One Internet connection, the one you use to connect to T-One.

You should now see a screen similar to the one on the left.

  1. Now, to permanently add a prefix, such as 9, to your phone number, click Dial properties.

  2. Click here to continue.

You should now see a screen similar to the one on the left.

  1. Go to where it says To access an outside line, first dial: and add 9, in the field. Make sure nothing else is there and don't forget the comma. The comma adds a slight pause between it and the actual number.

  2. Click OK

You should now see a screen similar to the one on the left.

  1. Click on Cancel

You should now see a screen similar to the one on the left. If not you will need to go back to the top of this page and follow the instructions until you are back into Dial Up Networking

  1. RIGHT CLICK on the connection you use to dial into T-One.net and SELECT PROPERTIES.

You should now see a screen similar to the one on the left.

  1. Click on the box to the left of the wording USE COUNTRY CODE AND AREA CODE to make sure it has a checkmark in it.

  2. Click OK

  3. You may now close any windows remaining open, and next time you dial into T-One your computer will dial the number required to open an outgoing line from your phone system.
