"What if you found a portal to a parallel universe? What
if you could slide into a thousand different worlds? Where it's
the same year, and you're the same person, but everything
else is different. And what if you can't find your way home?"

Sliders is a fascinating show that lets you explore the famous question, "what if...?" What if America lost the American Revolution? What if the Summer of Love never ended? And the most important question to this intrepid group of travelers: What if you found out, but could never get back home to tell anyone?

Quinn Mallory, a brilliant graduate student, thought he was on the verge of discovering the secret to antigravity. But instead, his machine opened a wormhole into a parallel universe. Unfortunately, an accident during one of his exploratory slides damaged the timer, the portable device that controlled the wormholes, and the ability to return directly home was lost, leaving him, Wade Wells, Professor Maximillian Arturo, and Rembrandt Brown stranded in another world.

Their only chance now is to continue sliding, with the hope that eventually their random slides will bring them back to the world they call home.

Their adventures have taken a tragic turn, though, with the death of Professor Arturo at the hands of the deranged Colonel Rickman, who escaped with his own advanced timer into other worlds. Mallory and the others, joined with Maggie Beckett, are now on a quest to find Rickman. Not only are they seeking justice for the murder of Arturo, but also because Rickman's timer contains the coordinates that will allow them to finally return home.

With the season finale this past week, it looks like they have their revenge, with the death of Rickman. His timer was recovered, but before the entire group could slide home, they were attacked by the genetically engineered "huminals" and were separated. Wade and Rembrandt slid safely using Rickman's timer, and are most likely home. Quinn and Maggie, however, missed the slide and had to follow with his own timer a few moments later.

Something went wrong with the tracking device though, and they slid randomly, arriving not on Earth Prime, but on a futuristic world somewhere, with no idea how to track their friend's wormhole again and make it home.

So we're left with many questions. Did the tracking device really malfunction, or did it follow the previous wormhole to this strange world? If it did, where are Wade and Rembrandt, and why didn't they arrive home? Did Rickman delete their home coordinates? If they do find a way home, will Maggie remain and risk death, or will she depart forever to worlds unknown?

We'll just have to wait and see...
